I hate working on Saturday. It’s like I am forced to go to the office, and just sit in front of the computer. Somehow my mood switch to getting my assignments done is turned off every Saturday. For most people, they can enjoy their Friday. Unfortunately, I can’t. I have to wake up early to go to work at 8 leh. WTF right? TGIF doesn’t apply to me at all

When my boss hired me October last year, he said that we are to work Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, with 1 hour lunch break. And working Saturdays next year (which is this year) will be your OT, with a rate of 1.5.

But things change earlier this year. He came out with a memo and says that all the staffs are to work every Saturday from March until end of June. And the normal working days will resumed starting July. Here’s the catch, no one can claim OT in this 4 months of work hour on Saturday. In the memo, it says that the working Saturday is to compensate the non-working Saturdays in the 2nd half.

No extra pay to work on Saturday for ONE whole day, and I even have to take half-day off to attend my ACCA class. There goes my around 8 days of annual leave. If he come out with the memo earlier, I wouldn’t have signed up for the ACCA class.

There you have it, me, working under a typical Chinese Boss, and to make things worst, he’s an accountant. Seriously, when he’s got nothing to do, he would call some of the junior staff (me included, I’m considered as a junior) to his office, and he would talk about all sorts of cost savings staff, and how he would like us, the newer staffs the reasoning why he is doing so. He always mumbles about not enough profit lah, and yet, a few days ago, he bought a new Mercedes. No profit my ass lah. Chiu.

You see lah, typical chinese boss. Squeeze the heck out of you for him to gain more profit.
